Covering an area of approximately 2000 square kilometers, the Khao Yai National Park is the oldest and the largest national park in Thailand. It is not only a popular site for nature lovers but is also famous amongst bird watchers, river rafters, hikers and campers. The park encompasses a a variety of natural vegetation and natural habitat. It is a mountainous area having mountains like Khao Sam Yod, Khao Kampang, Khao Samor Poon and Khao Lam. There are also grasslands and evergreen forests within the premises of the Khao Yai National Park. The park is recognized as an ASEAN National Heritage and is soon to be identified by United Nations as well.

In the Khao Yai National Park you can witness nearly 300 different types of birds, 2500 species of plants and 67 types of mammals. The park is also the home of rare and almost extinct animals like Malaysian Sun Bears, gibbons, leopards, elephants and tigers. If you are fond of wildlife then this is an ideal place for you. The entire area is teeming with life. There are thousands of different types of invertebrates and 74 species of reptiles. You can take a walk down the hiking track and enjoy nature watching.The entire area is dotted with rare animals like gibbons, barking deers, macaques, porcupines, sambar and squirrels. In the background you can hear the chirping and mad orchestra of beautiful birds like hornbill and Indian Pied. You can taste the thrills of adventure by visiting the nearby forest caves and watch the hanging bats taking their daytime nap.
Active watching and observation power is all that is needed to enjoy the rare beauty of Khao Yai National Park. There is some wildlife of the other waiting for you at every turn. For nature lovers there are different kinds of tropical plants, orchids, grasses and even carnivorous plants. The Heo Suwat waterfall is also worth visiting. Khao Yai National Park is an experience in the lap of raw nature. The smell of greenery, the singing of birds and the rays of the sun breaking through the forest canopy are things that you will never be able to forget.
