In 1971, the modern emirate of Dubai came into being with the creation of the United Arab Emirates. However, written documents accounting the presence of the city have been there since 150 years, that is, prior to the formation of the UAE. Each emirate has individual jurisdiction over some functions, like the enforcement of civic law and provision as well as maintenance of local facilities. Dubai is supposed to contain the largest population and it is also the second largest emirate by area, only after Abu Dhabi.

Dubai World Central International Airport is a large new airport under construction near Jebel Ali, South of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. It has been previously known as the "Jebel Ali International Airport" and "Jebel Ali Airport City". The airport is supposed to have six 4500 m parallel runways and a huge passenger lobby in the middle. When completed, it will be capable of bearing 120 million passengers and 12 million tons of cargo per year. Its huge runways would make take-offs and landings an easier task.
