It was one of the busiest airports in the world, second busiest in Asia by passenger volume, 15th busiest in the world and fourth busiest in Asia in international passenger volume. Don Muang is one of the world's oldest international airports. It was inaugurated in March 1914. It operates through three terminals and is situated about 30 km on the northern part of Bangkok's city center.

Suvarnabhumi Airport became Bangkok's official international airport on September 28, 2006. The airport is located in the southeastern part of the city center in Bang Phli district, Samut Prakan Province. The main airline of Suvarnabhumi is Thai Airways International. Don Muang airpot is used mainly as a base of the Royal Thai Air Force. Cairo International Airport serves Cairo as the main civilian airport in Cairo, Egypt. It is the major base for Egypt Air.
